Food Establishment Standards
Inspecting, and issuing the license to Food establishments, Under the food regulation "Regulation for Hygiene Standards of Foodservices; (Regulation no: 2014/R-380) that is currently being implemented, ensuring the establishments that provide Public Services accordance to the Tobacco Control Act through doing inspections, and taking actions upon those that do not comply with the aforementioned Acts. Furthermore, monitoring all the works done in the atolls regarding Food hygiene standards and Tobacco Control act. -Access all our services through one.gov.mv
IMPORTANT NOTICE
- The submitted premises of the food service layout should be clear and labelled. The layout should be written with the measurements. It also needs to mark the types of equipment where it fixes. eg: Stove and kitchen exhaust/hoods, oven, sink and working table.
- Pesticides and chemical cleaning products like brooms, and mops shall be stored in locked rooms or cabinets away from food processing and handling areas. From the layout of the establishment, it should be marked where it keeps.
- The payment process is to be continued through the Bandeyri portal. https://bandeyripay.finance.gov.mv/manage/login. After receiving the payment link it should settle the payment within 24 hours. If you do not pay within 24 hours, the link may be expired.
To register a new food service establishment
Documents to be submitted:
- Application for registration and renewal of permits for food service establishments. (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
- Clearly drawn and labelled drawing of the layout of the food service establishment
- Building land use permit issued by the Local Council
- Certificate of construction of” oil trap” as specified by the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company or the person operating and maintaining the sewerage system in the island.(For food only manufacturing facilities)
- If food is imported and sold, the permit registration number issued by HPA to the supplier.
Note: The documents must be up to date
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted online to one.gov.mv
- If the application form is completed and the required documents are submitted, the owner will be notified by phone after scheduling an inspection of the food service establishment within 07 working days from the date of submission of the form.
- After the inspection, if the food outlet complies with the regulation (Number: 380-R/2014, article no. 2), a slip of payment for the permit will be sent to the owner (email provided when filling out the form at one.gov.mv) within three (3) days, except public holidays.
- Registration fee and late entry fee payment slips will be sent via one.gov.mv within 03 days, excluding public holidays. Pay using the BML gateway link sent by onegov portal.
- If there are any improvements to be made after the inspection, they will be sent via one gov portal to the owner within 3 days. Recheck inspection will be conducted within 03 days after notification via the portal. A maximum of 3 opportunities will be given for this correction
The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit.
Renewal of permits of food service establishments
Documents to be submitted:
- Application for registration and renewal of permits for food service establishments. (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
- Previously issued permit number.
- If there is any change in the layout of the food service establishment, draw and label the layout clearly.
Note: The documents must be up to date
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents should be submitted online to one.gov.mv
- If the application form is completed and the required documents are submitted, the owner will be notified by phone after scheduling an inspection of the food service establishment within 07 working days from the form’s submission date.
- any improvements to be made after the inspection will be sent via one gov portal to the owner within 3 days.
- After the inspection, if the food outlet complies with the regulation (Number: 380-R/2014, article no. 2), a slip of payment for the permit will be sent to the owner (email provided when filling out the form at one.gov.mv) within three (3) days, except public holidays. (The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit)
- Registration fee and late entry fee payment slips will be sent via one.gov.mv within 03 days, excluding public holidays. Pay using the BML gateway link sent by the one gov portal.
Renewal of food service establishments by changing the name and operator of the permit during the term of the permit
Documents to be submitted:
- Application for changing business name or owner (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
- Document issued by MWSC stating the installation of an oil trap in the establishment (only for the food preparation area) – if applicable
- Clearly labeled floor plan or layout (If existing layout has changed)
- No objection letter from the current business operator (if the business operator has changed)
- ID card copy of the operator / ID card of the responsible person if a company
- If food is imported and sold, the permit registration number issued by HPA to the supplier.
- Registration number of the previously issued permit.
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted to one.gov.mv
- The form will be verified within 03 days
- The permit will be sent to the owner (via email provided when filling out the form at one.gov.mv) within 07 days, except for public holidays.
- The permit will be sent to the owner (to the email provided when filling out the form at one.gov.mv) within three (3) days, except for public holidays. (The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit)
- If a fine payment is pending, it will be emailed to the owner within 03 days, excluding public holidays.
Application for temporary permit
Documents to be submitted:
- Apply form (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
- Permission to use the premises issued by the council or permission of the guardian of the premises.
- Clearly labeled floor plan or layout
- If food is imported and sold, the permit registration number issued by HPA to the supplier.
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted to one.gov.mv
- The owner will be notified by phone after scheduling an inspection of the food service establishment within 07 working days from the form’s submission date.
- After the inspection of the food establishment complies with the regulation, a temporary permit will be sent to the owner by email within 03 days excluding public holidays (The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit)
- Registration fee slips will be sent via one.gov.mv within 03 days, excluding public holidays. Pay using the BML gateway link sent by one gov portal.
Request for a copy of the permit if the permit is lost or damaged
Documents to be submitted:
- Apply form (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- If the application form is completed and the required documents are submitted, the Permit will be sent to the owner (to the email provided when filling out the form at one.gov.mv) within three (3) days, except on public holidays.
- a slip of the permit fee (50% of the permit fee) will be sent to the owner by email within 03 days excluding public holidays
- Pay as per the slip using the BML gateway link sent by one gov portal.
The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit.
Cancellation of permission
Documents to be submitted:
- Apply form (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
- Registration number of the previously issued permit.
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted to one.gov.mv
- If the application form is completed and the required documents are submitted, the owner will be notified via one gov portal within 07 days excluding public holidays
Submission of complaint form
Documents to be submitted:
- Complaint form. (login to efaas > one.gov.mv > fill form)
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted to one.gov.mv
- Immediate inspection will be carried out based on the complaint submitted. Other complaints will be inspected within 03 days. Action will be taken per the rules depending on the situation.
Permission for designated smoking areas in food establishments
Documents to be submitted:
- Application for permission for designated smoking areas in food establishments. one.gov.mv
- Business permit issued by the Ministry of Economic Development or a designated body
- Permits issued by the Health Protection Agency for the food service establishment
- Smoking permitted area marked and of the entire premises. A drawing showing the floor measurements.
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Application forms and documents in PDF format should be submitted to one.gov.mv
- If the application form is completed and the required documents are submitted, the owner will be notified by phone after scheduling an inspection of the food service establishment within 03-05 working days from the date of submission of the form.
- After the inspection, of the food establishment complies with the regulation, slip of payment for permit, will be sent to the owner by email within 03 days excluding public holidays
- Pay as per the slip to (Bandeyri portal link)
- The permit will be emailed upon payment of the fees associated with the permit.
- After inspection, if the premises are not in accordance with the rules, the owner for correction will be notified via a text message (SMS).
- After correction, reapply to one.gov.mv
- The same procedure as above will apply. After re-inspection
