Note: It takes approximately two weeks for your body to develop immunity after receiving a vaccination. Therefore, it is advisable to complete your vaccination at least two weeks before your planned travel date.

• Practice good hand hygiene, especially after using the toilet.
• Use sanitizer when outside to maintain cleanliness and protect yourself.
• Stay hydrated by consuming sufficient fluids.
• Avoid fizzy drinks, energy drinks, and sugary beverages.
• Choose comfortable footwear to shield your feet from the heat.
• Adhere to your medication schedule if you have any health conditions.
• For chronic illnesses, carry the latest prescriptions and reports from your doctor.
• Consume only thoroughly cooked milk.
• Ensure all meat is properly cooked and not raw for safety.

• • If you have the flu, cover your nose and mouth when sneezing and dispose of tissues properly.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
  • It is advisable to wear a mask during travel and throughout your Hajj and Umrah journey.
  • If you are experiencing fever and coughing, avoid gatherings, especially in high-risk places with children, older individuals, and people with medical conditions.
  • Refrain from visiting or carrying children if you have the flu.
  • If, within 14 days of your return, you experience symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or chest pain, seek medical attention.
  • Inform the doctor that you have recently returned from Hajj and Umrah during your consultation.
  • Consult a doctor for any other symptoms you may be experiencing.

• If you have a high fever, take a lukewarm bath or shower.
• Consult a doctor before using any medication other than paracetamol.

Yellow Fever Remains the only disease specifically designated under the IHR (2005) for which proof of vaccination may be required for travellers as a condition to entry to the Republic of Maldives.

If a traveller is coming from a Yellow Fever Risk country (regardless of whether there is a Low or High risk area), the following instructions need to be followed/imposed simultaneously with the collection of Health declaration documents.

For entry into Maldives:
Passengers (Locals and Foreigners), (excluding infants below nine months) arriving by air or sea without a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate will be kept in quarantine isolation or under mandatory health surveillance with self-reporting for a period upto 6 days if the passenger:

1. Arrives into Maldives Within 6 days’ time after departure/transit from a Yellow Fever Endemic area.
2. Has come on a ship which has started from or transited at any port in a Yellow Feverendemic country within 30 days of arrival in Maldives provided such ship has not been disinfected in accordance with the procedure laid down by WHO.
3. Presents with signs and symptoms of Yellow Fevereither definite or with pertinent travel history.

For leaving Maldives:
Currently, there is no mandatory health requirement by Maldivian government on passengers leaving Maldives.Should there be any international concern of health it is always subjected to immediate preventive measures. Persons leaving for a Yellow Fever Endemic Area are advised in their own interest to get vaccinated and to acquire a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination certificates before they leave the country.

Persons exempted from presenting theYellow Fever vaccination certificate on arrival:

• Infants below the age of nine-months,
• Any person who is suffering from some chronic illness and is immunocompromised and has a waiver medical document,
• Crews And passengers of an aircraft transiting through an airport located in Yellow Fever Endemic Area provided that the Health Officer is satisfied that such persons remained within the transiting airport premises during the period of stay which should not exceed 12 hours.

The Public Health Emergency for the COVID-19 Pandemic announced on 12th March 2020 has been revoked on 13th March 2022 by the Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem.

Following this, changes to COVID-19 preventive measures have been made:

• Pre-arrival PCR test is not required for all passengers arriving Maldives. However, All individual(s) except tourists and Maldivians are recommended to undertake PCR testing between 3-5 days after arrival. Travelers who have symptoms of COVID-19 may take an antigen test.
• Travel-related quarantine is no longer required

Wearing a mask is only mandatory under the following conditions:

• In all health facilities, regardless of outbreak status, staff, patients and visitors must wear mask.
• In outbreak areas (where sample positivity is above 20%), masks must be worn in public areas as per current guidelines for outbreak areas.
