Hand foot and Mouth Disease
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a mild, contagious viral infection common in young children.
Symptoms of Hand foot and Mouth disease
- Fever and headache
- Sore throat
- Loss of appetite.
- Tiredness
- A rash on the palms and foot. The rash is not itchy, but sometimes it has blisters.
How it spreads?
- Contact with respiratory droplets containing virus particles after a sick person coughs or sneezes.
- Fluid from blisters or scabs
- The usual period from initial infection to the time symptoms appear is 3 to 7 days.
Prevention
- Wash hands frequently
- Keep surfaces, shared equipment clean.
- If you have the disease do not go to school and do not visit people
- Discard used nappy, tissue and such material safely
