Ensuring the health and safety of travelers and cargo entering and exiting the Maldives through our ports.
Port Health Section at the points of entries are designated as below;
- International Border Male’ Unit;
- Male’ Seaport and Velaanaa International Airport.
- Atoll Unit;
- Ha. Uligamu – Seaport
- Hdh. Kulhudhufushi – Seaport
- HA. Hanimaadhoo -Airport
- N.Maafaru -Airport
- ADh.Maamigili -Airport
- Dh.Kudahuvadhoo-Airport
- S.Hithadhoo-Seaport
- S.Gan-Airport
Application and renewal of Ship Sanitation Certificates
Documents to be submitted:
- Application Form (Form available at Port Health Unit through agents.)
- Ship Particulars
- Current Ship Sanitation Certificate
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- E-mail the application form and documents to [email protected]
- The payment slip shall be issued after the submission of the completed application form along with required documents.
- Payment of required service-fee to be completed (Bandeyri portal link).
- Once the payment is completed, where necessary Public Health Officer shall on-board the vessel for a physical inspection.
- The certificate shall be issued by the designated Port Health unit after the conduction of the necessary inspections and verification of required documents.
Issuance of clearance document for export of dead body
Documents to be submitted:
- Application Form (Form available at Port Health Unit)
- Passport Copy
- Copy of Death Certificate
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:

- Email the application form and documents to [email protected]
- The certificate will be issued by the designated Port Health unit, After verification of documents.
- The certificate will be issued within 24 hours of application.
For inward clearance
Documents to be submitted:
- Vessel arrival notice (ETA)
- Vessel last 10 ports copies
- I.M.O crew list
- Ship sanitation certificate copy
- Medicine list or medicine chest certificate copy
- Yellow fever vaccination list
- Ship particulars
- Veterinary Health Certificate
- Maritime Declaration of Health
- Reports on Rodent, Vector and Sanitary condition of vessel form
- Refer container log sheet
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Email the required documents to [email protected] 12 (twelve) hours prior to arrival of the vessel to the Maldives.
- Where necessary, Public Health Officer shall conduct On-board inspection after required documents submitted and verified.
- After obtaining the original copies of the “Maritime Declaration of Health” and “Reports on Rodent, Vector and Sanitary Condition of Vessel Form” from the vessel, given that no further issues are identified health clearance shall be given.
- Given that an issue has been identified, a “Restricted Preqitique” shall be issued, necessary preventive actions shall be taken as per the laid rules and regulations.
Screening and surveillance of crew/passengers
Documents to be submitted:
- Vessel Health Declaration Form (Form available at Port Health Unit through agents.)
Case Investigation Crew List - Individual Health Declaration (crew/passengers)
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- The application form and documents shall be handed-over to the Public Health Officer at the time of clearance.
- Given that the application form is complete and the necessary documents are submitted, the documents shall be verified and each crew/passenger will be screened individually as per the laid procedures.
- A “Free Preqitique” or “Restricted Preqitique” may be provided given that the health screening does not indicate a serious health concern on-board the vessel.
For outward clearance
Documents to be submitted:
- Application form (Form available at Port Health Unit)
- Crew List (Endorsed by Maldives Immigration)
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- The application form and documents shall be submitted to Port Health Unit.
- Outward clearance shall be issued once verification of the documents are completed.
- Customs declarations and crew lists will be stamped “Outward Health Cleared” and will have a validity period of 24 hours.
Issuance of Medicine Chest Certificate
Documents to be submitted:
- Application form (Form available at Port Health Unit through agents.)
- Ship Particulars
- Copy of medicine list
Steps to be completed and duration of the process:
- Email the application form and documents to [email protected]
- The payment slip shall be issued after the submission of the completed application forms along with other required documents.
- Payment of required service-fee has to be completed (Bandeyri portal link).
- Once payment is completed, Public Health Officer shall conduct an on-board inspection of the medicine chest on-board the vessel.
